The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it did not stop issuing visas to Russians, however, the process of issuing them is being delayed due to a reduction in technical staff.

The Ministry informed the local BTA editionreports Ukrinform.

“At the moment, the acceptance of documents and their execution in the consular offices of Bulgaria in Russia has not been stopped. The process is delayed due to the reduction of technical staff. Priority is given to emergency and humanitarian cases,” the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said.

That Bulgaria continues to issue tourist visas to Russians, but the service has been extended for technical reasons, the Russian state agency TASS also reported, citing the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow.

“The consulate at the embassy is working, and the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens has not stopped. At the moment, due to technical reasons, we are working in an unusual mode, the terms for providing services are longer than usual, but we are working,” the embassy said.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, the issuance of visas for property owners from Russia also did not stop.

The reason for this decision is the announcement of 14 employees of the diplomatic mission and consular offices of Bulgaria in Russia as persona non grata.
