Representatives of the Tokyo Broadcasting System met with the chairman of the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting, Olga Gerasimyuk, to study the specifics of the activities of the media regulator during the war.

“With Olga Gerasimyuk, Japanese journalist and TV presenter Shigenori Kanekhira spoke about the special powers the media regulator has in this difficult time for the country. How information is disseminated in the media and society in a war, what risks arise, what information has restrictions on dissemination – for example, about the location of military facilities, places where missiles hit, etc.,” the message says.

The meeting took place within the framework of the visit of the Japanese TV company to Ukraine, which will last until August 8.

It is reported that the guests were also interested in novelties of Ukrainian media legislation.

“The Chairwoman of the National Council spoke about the prepared draft law on media, its innovations, in particular, those developed as a result of Russian aggression,” the report says.

The meeting also discussed the regulation of online media and social networks.

As reported UkrinformGerasimyuk stressed that the bill on media does not regulate the activities of journalists and does not block bloggers.
