On Saturday, August 6, a patrol boat of the Kosovo Border Police Unit came under fire on Lake Ujman on the border with Serbia.

It is reported by Ukrinform with reference to Kosovo police.

The shooting began during the deployment of a patrol boat in Lake Ujman, near the border with Serbia. According to law enforcement officers, they were shot about 10 times.

“The shots were consecutive, from the other side of the lake, they hit near the police boat. No one was injured as a result of these shots,” the police added.

A rapid reaction squad of the border police went to help law enforcement officers. They are surveying the area and investigating the matter.

The police concluded that they will continue to do everything for security in this region and will fight crime, paying special attention to smuggling.

As reported on July 31 Serbs in northern Kosovo block main road with trucks near the Yarinje border crossing point. The Pristina-Raska road was also blocked.

To ease tensions in Kosovo postponed for a month the transition to national documents and license plates.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell welcomed the decision of the government of the partially recognized Kosovo postpone the plan to replace the Serbian documents and license plates.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on Serbia and Kosovo refrain from actions that could provoke violence.
