This was announced by the head of the Zaporozhye regional military administration Oleksandr Starukh.

According to him, enemy shelling fell on the highway through which hydrogen is transported to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, resulting in a fire.

There were no casualties from the shelling. The power transmission lines of the fourth power unit of the station were also damaged, which the nuclear workers were forced to disconnect from the power system and transfer to reserve.

The head of the Office of the President, Andrey Yermak, called what is happening at the station nuclear terrorism by the Russian Federation and said that the entire nuclear industry of the Russian Federation should be subject to sanctions, and once again called for recognizing the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism.

On August 5, Energoatom said that the Russian military had again resorted to provocations.

“As a result of their shelling at 14:30, three “arrivals” were recorded near the ZNPP industrial site. The enemy hit the high-voltage communication line 330 kV GRP autotransformer ZAES – Zaporizhzhya TPP.

Energoatom stressed that ZNPP continues to operate and deliver power to the energy system of Ukraine through operating lines.

At the same time, it is reported that it was decided to unload and disconnect from the network one of the operating power units of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

“Emissions and discharges of radioactive substances have not been recorded,” concluded Energoatom.

On March 4, 2022, the occupiers seized Energodar and the ZNPP near the city. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and the third largest in the world. It operates in the united energy system of Ukraine in three of the six units. On July 21, Energoatom reported that the occupiers had brought heavy equipment into the engine room of the power unit.

At 4 am on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” in the occupied Donbas. Russia launched missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine and launched a direct full-scale invasion in four directions. The armed forces of Ukraine are rebuffing the enemy, the blitzkrieg plan – to capture Kyiv in two or three days – failed, the Russian army retreated from the capital. The Russian military commits thousands of war crimes and crimes against humanity throughout Ukraine.
