In memory of the 77th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Mayor Kazumi Matsui read out the traditional Peace Declaration, expressing support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, which now again threatens the world with nuclear weapons.

This is stated in the message. Kyodo Newsreports Ukrinform.

“Despite the fact that civilians are dying as a result of Russian aggression, all over the world they pin hopes on nuclear deterrence,” the publication quotes the mayor of Hiroshima.

In this regard, he called on the world to “immediately make all nuclear buttons meaningless.”

UN Secretary General António Guterres also spoke during the ceremony in Hiroshima. In particular, he warned the world against the spread of crises “with a serious nuclear context.”
