Diplomats from the United States and the European Union (EU) are set to hold a high-level dialogue on the Ukraine issue on Wednesday. The US State Department has confirmed the matter.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman told Al Jazeera that talks would be held to end the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine.

The dialogue is set to begin within a week of a meeting between US President Joe Biden and top European delegations in Belgium and Poland. Victoria Nuland, the US State Department’s undersecretary of state for political affairs, will lead the talks on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, peace talks held in Turkey to end the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia have shown signs of progress. Russia has promised to significantly reduce military operations in Kiev and Chernihiv, according to Reuters. Ukraine has offered to take a neutral position, subject to international guarantees of protection from attack. Although Kiev residents have already complained, Russian forces are still attacking the capital intermittently.
