The Ukrainian gas transport infrastructure can completely replace the Russian Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline for the EU countries.
According to Ukrinform, this was stated by Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko in Facebook.
“Moreover, the Ukrainian gas transport infrastructure can completely replace the Russian Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline for the EU countries. The technical capacity at the Sudzha entry point to Ukraine is now 244 million cubic meters of gas per day, while Nord Stream 1 – only 167 million cubic meters,” he wrote.
Galushchenko stressed that the Ukrainian GTS has been reliably providing the main volume of gas transit to European countries for many years. And during the 5 months of the war, Ukraine responsibly fulfilled all international obligations on transit.
According to the minister, the Ukrainian GTS is another tool to reduce Russia’s influence on the energy security of Europe.
“At the same time, Nord Stream 1, like Nord Stream 2, are not commercial projects, but mechanisms of political blackmail of the EU by the Russian Federation,” the head of the Ministry of Energy said.
As reported, at the request of Germany, Canada has decided to return a Siemens Energy AG gas turbine after maintenance for use in the Russian-German gas pipeline Nord Stream 1. The decision was made despite a warning from the Ukrainian government. Canadian Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said the temporary export permit was issued after lengthy discussions with European allies as well as the International Energy Agency.
Subsequently, information emerged about the Canadian government’s permission to repair gas pipeline turbines within two years, which allows the import and re-export of up to six turbines, which are serviced at the Siemens Canada plant in Montreal.
