Wolfsburg, Germany – Bundesliga top scorer Robert Lewandowski wants to leave Bayern Munich.
Bayern’s sports director Hasan Salihamidžić said on Saturday that the Polish star had rejected the club’s offer to extend his contract and that he “wanted to do something else”.
Lewandowski, 33, has a one-season deal with Bayern Munich, but he has asked the club to consider any offers.
“Yes, I have one more year on my contract,” Lewandowski said after scoring his 35th goal in Bayern’s 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga this season. “If there is an offer, we have to think about it, for the club as well. Both sides need to think about the future. I can’t say more than that. We have to see what happens. ”
Lewandowski has been linked with a move to Barcelona, but Salihamidzic says there has been no contact from the Spanish club and that Bayern are not bound to sell.
“Leva has a contract until the summer of next year. This is a fact, “said Salihamidzic.
Asked what should happen to change Bayern’s position, he replied: “I don’t care because our position is always clear.”
Sports Channel 1 reports that Lewandowski’s agent, Benny Jahavi, and Barcelona have verbally agreed to a three-year deal, and the club is waiting to give Bayern a hint about the transfer fee if they can consider a deal.
Lewandowski has scored 312 goals in 384 Bundesliga matches against Bayern Munich and former club Borussia Dortmund.
He is the league’s top scorer for the fifth consecutive season and seventh overall. He broke the Bundesliga record of 41 goals in a single season last year.
Liverpool striker Sadio Mane and Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic have been announced as possible replacements for the Polish striker at Bayern Munich.
