Through his official account, the former president Pastrana shared a letter in which he gives his reasons why he will not attend the event.

“I appreciate the invitation to fill out the form for the Presidential Command Transfer Ceremony 2022an honor that I must decline due to the insurmountable ethical and political differences that separate us,” said Pastrana.

“His pacts with the condemned in the La Picota jail and the national agreement with a letter of marque for the corrupt open the door to redoubled looting of the state coffers. The de facto legalization of the crops that feed drug trafficking and its commitment to a clean slate with the drug mafias are the path to a narcocracy,” said the former president while criticizing Gustavo Petro.
