The event is the time of year when Apple announces the main changes in the company’s products and the new functions in the operating systems of smartphones, tablets and computers.
In 2022, one of the main novelties is changes to the lock screen, which has finally been revamped. In iOS 16, the user will be able to customize it with portrait style photos with depth, filters, fonts, colors, and widgets.
The system will offer wallpapers and suggestions to create different interchangeable lock screens.
Another new feature is the notification space in iOS 16, which will now be at the bottom, and which can be customized with widgets as well.
New features for Siri and Dictation
The apple company seems interested in breathing new life into the Siri virtual assistant and voice features. With the new ‘dictation’ text transcription functions, iOS 16 makes it possible to switch typing between voice and physical keyboard at the same time, with automatic scores and predicted by the system’s artificial intelligence.
Apple revealed that the dictation function is triggered 18 billion times a month (without needing to be by mistake or intention), so the tool has been redesigned with usability in mind
Focus mode customization
Focus mode has gained a notable expansion. Among them, in Safari it will be possible to separate tabs according to the selected profile. It makes it possible, for example, to separate moments of work and rest.
The Photos app can now select an object in an image — the company used a dog in the example — and turn it, in just a few steps, into a sticker that can be used on WhatsApp or other messengers.
And on the Apple Watch?
The brand’s smart watch gets a range of features with watchOS 9. For starters, four new watch faces, including a Play Time, Astronomy, Lunar and Metropolitan watch face.
There are also more advanced features for the Sleep app and more accurate sleep tracking features, including specific information about sleep stages such as REM and deep.
iOS 16 arrives in the second half
The update should arrive in the second half of 2022, along with the new iPhone 14, scheduled for September.
But the brand has already anticipated that the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 , iPhone SE (1st generation) and iPhone SE (2nd generation) models will be out of the new system version.
Therefore, you will need an iPhone 8 or newer to install the successor to iOS 15.
