1) Duncanville

Duncanville is one of the top high school football teams in Texas and is currently ranked #1 in the state. The team has had a long and successful history, having won three state championships since 2003. This season, they are off to a 5-0 start and have outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points per game.
Their offense is led by star quarterback Ja’Quinden Jackson, who has thrown for over 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns so far this year. He is supported by a talented receiving corps that includes wide receivers Kaleb Forrest and Marquez Beason, who have combined for nearly 600 yards and seven touchdowns. On the ground, senior running back Jaden Robinson leads the way with over 400 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

Led by head coach David Aymond, North Shore has won the last four 6A Division 1 championships and five of the last six.
The Mustangs are loaded with talent this season, returning several key players from last year’s squad, including quarterback Patrick Jenkins and wide receiver Quan Hilliard. On the defensive side, cornerback Jordan Moore leads the way and is one of the top recruits in the country. With a deep roster full of experienced players, North Shore looks poised to make another deep run into the playoffs this season.

3) DeSoto

The DeSoto Eagles have consistently been one of the best football teams in the state of Texas. The team has won four consecutive district championships and have made six consecutive playoff appearances. Last year, the team finished 11-1, with their only loss coming in the 6A Division II Region I Championship Game. They are currently ranked third in the state and have received numerous accolades, including the No. 11 ranking in the USA Today Super 25.
The Eagles are led by head coach Todd Peterman and have a talented roster, headlined by quarterback Jaylin Nelson and wide receiver Malachi Widemon. The duo has connected for big plays all season long and is considered to be one of the top offensive duos in the state. On defense, the Eagles are led by defensive tackle Daytwon Ridgley and safety Preston Whitlock. 4) Guyer (Denton)

Guyer High School in Denton, Texas is a powerhouse when it comes to high school football. They have one of the best teams in the state and have achieved success year after year. The Wildcats are coached by John Walsh and have made it to the playoffs several times over the past few years. The Wildcats also boast a rich history of success, including several conference championships, multiple district titles, and one state championship in 2012.
The Wildcats boast some of the best talent in the state and are currently ranked #4 in the Texas High School Football rankings. The team is led by quarterback Eli Stowers, running back Dee Gordon Jr., and wide receiver Jaden Robinson. Stowers and Gordon Jr. are both four-star recruits while Robinson is a three-star recruit. All three have committed to play college football at Power Five schools with Stowers headed to the Big 12’s Oklahoma State Cowboys.
The Wildcats have a tough schedule ahead of them this season with games against some of the top teams in the state such as North Shore (Houston), DeSoto, and Westlake (Austin). But with a strong coaching staff, experienced players, and plenty of talent, the Wildcats should be a team to watch this season.

5) Westlake (Austin)

Located in Austin, Texas, Westlake High School is a powerhouse of football excellence. The school’s football team has consistently been one of the best in the state, finishing in the top 10 every year since 2011. This year, they are once again ranked among the top teams in Texas.
Led by head coach Todd Dodge, the Chaparrals are known for their tough defense and explosive offense. Their defense is led by senior cornerback Terrell Banks and junior linebacker Jaron Williams. On offense, quarterback Sam Ehlinger and wide receiver Brennan Eagles are the stars of the show. Both have already committed to play college football at Texas.
Westlake has had great success this season and is expected to make a deep run into the playoffs. They have wins against some of the best teams in the state and will look to keep their winning streak alive when they face off against rivals Round Rock later in the season. 6) Aledo

Aledo is one of the top high school football programs in the state of Texas, and with good reason. Located in Parker County, Aledo has won 10 state championships, including six straight from 2011 to 2016. They have also produced many talented players, such as former Texas Tech Red Raider Patrick Mahomes II, who is now a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Bearcats have had recent success under head coach Tim Buchanan, winning four consecutive 5A Division II state titles from 2011-2014, as well as two straight 6A Division I championships in 2015 and 2016. Aledo has also seen multiple NFL players emerge from its program, such as wide receiver Malcom Brown, safety Josh Furman, and offensive lineman Tyron Smith.
The program has also established itself as a powerhouse over the years. In 2019, the Bearcats finished second in the state rankings, losing to Duncanville in the championship game. With talented players like Caleb Green and Garrett Rangel coming back this season, Aledo looks to be a force in Texas high school football once again.

7) Parish Episcopal (Dallas)

Parish Episcopal School is a private, co-educational day school located in the heart of Dallas. The school’s football team has been one of the top teams in Texas for many years. This year is no exception, as they currently hold the #7 spot in the Texas High School Football Rankings.
The team is led by head coach Mike Brooks who has been with the school since 2009 and has guided them to multiple successful seasons. In 2015, his team won their first TAPPS Division I state championship. This year, they are looking to make another run at the title, with a strong offense and defense that features many talented players.
On offense, the Panthers are led by senior quarterback Ryan Agnew, who has thrown for nearly 2,000 yards this season. He has two reliable targets in wide receivers Nick Canales and Justen Johnson, who have combined for over 1,200 receiving yards. The running game is just as impressive with backs Justin Dinka and Desmond Howard leading the way.
The defense is just as impressive and is led by senior linebacker Gavin Spears. He leads the team in tackles, with over 80 this season. Senior defensive linemen Max Everett and Kaleo Watson have been dominant up front as well, combining for 15 sacks.
Parish Episcopal is a perennial powerhouse in Texas high school football and should be a favorite to win it all in 2017.

8) Carthage

Carthage is located in east Texas, and the Bulldogs are making their presence known on the football field. The Bulldogs are a perennial power in Class 4A, and they have made the playoffs every season since 2012. This year they have several Division I prospects, and the team is poised to make a deep run in the playoffs. The Bulldogs have a high-powered offense led by dual-threat quarterback Gunner Capps, and their defense is extremely stout. Carthage has made it to the state championship game three times since 2012, and this year could be their fourth. They have all the pieces in place to make a run at a state title, and they should be considered one of the top teams in Texas this season.

9) Katy

Katy, Texas is home to one of the top football teams in the state, the Katy Tigers. This team has been playing in the 5A Division of the UIL since 1999 and has made a name for themselves in that time. The Tigers have won four State Championships, most recently in 2018 when they defeated Duncanville to take home the title. They have also made numerous appearances in the playoffs and have had a total of 15 playoff appearances over the years. Katy has produced numerous top-tier talent, including former NFL player J.J. Watt and current NFL star Justin Reid. The Tigers are consistently ranked amongst the best teams in the state and are a perennial power in the 5A Division.

10) Atascocita (Humble)

Atascocita High School, located in Humble, Texas, is ranked tenth on the top 10 Texas High School Football Rankings. The Eagles, as they’re known, are coached by Craig Stump and have a great record of success in recent years. In the 2018 season, they reached the state semifinals and were defeated by the eventual state champion in a very close game. In 2019, they advanced to the regional finals before being defeated by Cedar Hill.
Atascocita has had a string of highly successful seasons since their establishment in 2005, with numerous playoff appearances and District 17-6A championships. Their 2017 season saw them reach the state quarterfinals for the first time in school history and their accomplishments in 2018 brought them even closer to the state title game.
The Eagles boast an impressive roster of talent and many of their players have gone on to play college football at the highest level. Led by dynamic senior quarterback Connor Weigman, Atascocita will look to build upon their successes from previous seasons and compete for another deep playoff run this year.
