The opening gala of the III Film Festival of San Silvestre de Guzman ‘La Sansilvestrale’ was held yesterday, Thursday, August 5, with the presentation of the short film contest and the screening of three of those selected from among the 112 films presented, a number that triples that of the edits previous. The projects that compete this year include up to six nationalities and five different languages and the presence of renowned actors and actresses such as Kira Miró, Elena Furiase, Víctor Clavijo or Luisa Gavasa, among others, stands out.
Today, Friday, another nine selected by the jury will be screened in an evening dedicated entirely to screenings, with a total of twelve films nominated by the festival to opt for the different award-winning categories, which this year are multiplied by including novelties. Added to the traditional Best Short Film are those for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and the Audience Award, the latter being decided by viewers who will be able to vote for their favorite shorts during screenings.
In this way, as highlighted by the mayor of the town, José Alberto Macarro, “the City Council has opted to provide this edition with greater diversity and dynamism, valuing different audiovisual perspectives and rewarding the work of various film professionals.” Likewise, he has highlighted that the festival “gives a leap in quality in this edition, backed by the great response of the sector, with the aim of consolidating itself as one of the reference cinematographic events in the province of Huelva”.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 6, in which directors, actors, screenwriters and other members of the work team of the different nominated short films will participate. The film that wins the award for Best Short Film will receive a prize of €1,500. In addition, all the winners will receive a Golden Mill as a trophy on behalf of the town.
